Our 3D-scanning system is based on the laser-triangulation-principle. In this setup a laser is mounted orthogonal to the inspection surface and projects a laser line onto the scene. The camera, mounted in a defined angle to the laser system, is used to detect the projected laser line. A 3D object passing the laser line in the scene leads then to a proportional offset of the detected laser line in the 2D image of the camera.
The configuration of the scanning system is similar to the one of the viSYS-2D scanning system with the addition of dedicated line-lasers triggered synchronously with the image acquisition of the cameras. The cameras itself are equipped with a proprietary customized firmware to allow real-time 3D processing.
